Job Description
Join our dynamic team in Loveland, CO, where you will work onsite at our expansive three-building campus, which includes a state-of-the-art Research and Development facility. As a Firmware Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and developing embedded solutions for next-generation products, collaborating with an Agile team to deliver high-quality firmware.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded solutions for next-generation products.
- Collaborate in an Agile team using scrum processes.
- Utilize expertise in C++ and object-oriented design principles to ensure reliable products.
- Analyze requirements, estimate effort, and deliver impactful solutions.
- Engage in daily scrum meetings to discuss progress and troubleshoot with the team.
- Participate in weekly development discussions to address problem areas and system issues.

Contribute to new product development and the growth of the firmware team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience with C++ user-space development.
- 3-5+ years of experience with microcontrollers and platforms like Linux, RTOS, or bare metal.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies, CI/CD practices, and unit testing.

Comfortable working with hardware, debugging, and familiarity with tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Master’s degree in Embedded Systems Engineering.
- Experience with Embedded Linux build systems (e.g., Yocto).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP).
- Proficiency with scripting languages (Shell, Bash, Python).
- Ability to read hardware schematics and code low-level hardware interfaces.

Understanding of protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, MODBUS, USB, and Ethernet.
This position requires a minimum of four days onsite with Friday as a flexible day. You will be part of a large campus with hundreds of people, where all manufacturing is done in-house. The environment is akin to a college senior design project on steroids, with close-knit collaborative teams and nearly all engineering disciplines represented. The focus is on water quality, an industry growing in global importance, offering a diverse and inclusive culture. Daily activities include coding, building, deploying, troubleshooting, and debugging, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and problem-solving.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $80.00/hr.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
