Join our innovative engineering team as a Firmware Engineer, where you'll design and
develop firmware for digitally controlled power supplies and power management systems.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role ideal for someone with 8+ years of experience who thrives on solving complex challenges in power electronics.

What You’ll Do
- ✨ Design & Develop embedded firmware for power supply control, monitoring, and communication.
- ⚙️ Implement Control Algorithms for AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion (e.g., voltage regulation, current limiting, PFC).
- 🔌 Integrate Communication Protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, PMBus, SMBus, GPIB, Ethernet, LXI, and Modbus.
- 🤝 Collaborate with Hardware Teams to define microcontroller specs and integrate firmware with schematics and PCB layouts.
- 🧪 Debug & Validate firmware using lab tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and more.
- ✅ Ensure Compliance with industry standards (UL, IEC, etc.) through rigorous testing and documentation.
- 🧾 Document firmware design, code, and integration procedures clearly and thoroughly.

🧠 Contribute to Architecture and participate in design reviews and product definition.
Required Qualifications
- 🎓 B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Computer, or Control Engineering (or related field).
- 🛠️ 3+ years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development for power electronics.
- ⚡ Proven experience with AC-DC power conversion is required.
- 💻 Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.
- 🔍 Strong understanding of power supply topologies (buck, boost, flyback, LLC, etc.) and digital/analog control loops.
- 🧠 Experience with DSPs or SoCs (e.g., TI, STM, Microchip, NXP).
- 🧰 Familiarity with firmware development tools (IDEs, compilers, debuggers, version control).
- 🧪 Skilled in using lab equipment for testing and debugging.

📍 Must be able to work onsite in our Queens, NYC office.
- 📐 Knowledge of digital control techniques (PID, current-mode control, etc.).
- ⏱️ Experience with RTOS or bare-metal programming.
- ⚡ Familiarity with compliance standards (safety, EMI/EMC, reliability).

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
