We are looking for a motivated Computer Science or Computer Engineering Intern to join our fast-paced hardware-software integration team. This role is ideal for fresh graduates or individuals with up to 1 year of experience who are eager to work on AOSP (Android Open-Source Project), framework-side modifications, and low-level OS integrations. You'll collaborate with our embedded and firmware teams to build, customize, and optimize Android-based platforms for real hardware products.
What will be your responsibilities?
- Assist in building and customizing AOSP for hardware platforms.
- Work on Android framework-side development, including adding/removing features, modifying system services, and handling HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) integrations.
- Debug and optimize OS performance, stability, and boot time.
- Manage Git repositories effectively — including branching strategies, merge conflict resolution, and code reviews.
- Integrate OS changes with hardware-specific firmware and drivers.
- Use Linux shell commands for code compilation, file system management, and log analysis (adb, logcat, dmesg).
- Contribute to technical documentation for build processes, system changes, and debugging steps.

Participate in board bring-up and OS-level peripheral testing.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 0–1 year of experience with Android (AOSP) development or OS-level software engineering.
- Strong understanding of Java, C, and C++ in the context of Android development.
- Experience with Linux terminal and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Android framework architecture (system services, managers, HAL, native libraries).
- Basic understanding of Git version control workflows.
- Exposure to embedded hardware integration is a plus.

Final Year Project (FYP) involving operating systems, AOSP, or low-level Android work will be a strong plus.

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
