About The Opportunity

Ocean Optics makes world-class spectroscopic systems that are involved in solving some of the world's biggest problems. In this role, you will work with the Ocean Optics Electrical Engineering team, helping make the next-generation spectroscopic systems for Ocean Optics. This job is located in our Shanghai, China office.
As a Collaborative Engineer, You Will
- Work with a team of driven, supportive, and highly skilled professionals in the development of Ocean Optics’ next-generation electrical architecture for spectroscopic systems
- Utilize electrical engineering expertise in a multidisciplinary team to design, build, and test new solutions to meet customer requirements and specifications for spectral sensing applications
- Develop new sensor/spectrometer applications within an existing hardware architecture

Investigate, propose, and build consensus for future technology solutions and design architectures
Our ideal candidate brings a wealth of experience and should possess the following qualities/skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- 5+ years of work experience in technical development
- Expert-level C/C++ firmware development, including low-level debugging
- Background in embedded build system development using CMake/Make
- Proficient with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
- Proficient in developing tools with SDKs using C# and Python
- Experience with best practices in source control management
- Knowledge of CCD/CMOS sensor timing development is a major plus
- People-centric focus with the ability to collaborate with all teammates across the organization
- Strong initiative, work ethic, and levels of enthusiasm
- Excellent skills in planning and communications, strong analytical capabilities, and attention to detail
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, navigate uncertain situations, and drive for clarity

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
