- Understand system and high level requirements of the functions to implement.
- Establish good relationships and understanding with the system teams and team members developing the high level requirements for your assigned function.
- Develop the provided high level requirements into a safe, maintainable and testable software architecture and software, following Autoflight’s software requirements and coding standards, and software verification plan.
- Establish and maintain traceability between low and high level requirements.
- Establish and maintain traceability between code and low level requirements.
- Identify “derived requirements” and “safety related” requirements, and feed them back to the high and system level requirement writers.
- Create the software design documents (architecture and low level requirements) and baselines, according to Autoflight’s Configuration Management Plan.
- Coordinate with the software tester/integrator/verifier (internal or third party) to ensure the correct and complete verification of the software.
- Take into account Software integration/verification team feedback to correct/improve the software design or implementation.

Participate to the Change Control Boards when called in. Autoflight is an international company with offices in China and Europe (Germany). While the position is based in Shanghai, China, a big part of the interactions will be with English speaking third parties.
- You have a degree in computer science, electronics or system engineering. You have been involved in the development of embedded software for safety critical equipment in the automotive, the medical or (ideally) the aeronautical field.
- You are very comfortable writing code in C or C++.
- Knowledge of other languages (ADA, Python, Rust), and Model Based Development with tools like SCADE or Simulink is an advantage.
- You are familiar with embedded real time operating systems, ideally Arinc 653 compliant OS (VxWorks, Integrity, SysGo…). You know how to build, test and debug real-time embedded software.
- You are familiar with safety critical development frameworks, such as ISO26262, IEC 62304, IEC 60601-1, ARP4754/4761, ideally DO-254/178C/331/332.
- You are comfortable reading, writing, understanding and speaking English.

At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
