Research, design, develop, build, and test the low-layer software, such as OS integration, I/O drivers, boot, etc., which interfaces with a wide variety of electronic controls hardware (i.e. ECU/ECMs). Job Responsibilities
Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: concept, design, test, document, and promote new software features and processes; perform requirements analysis and decomposition; evaluate new languages, development tools, or processes; perform product maintenance; manage the software lifecycle through version control and configuration management; keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other units; and support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work can primarily be done off-site, but hardware engagement on-site is mandatory as part of workload. Depending upon the phase of the assignment, typical day would range from reading the client requirements, researching applicable ECU hardware/interfacing requirements, designing solutions, working with peers & tech leads to finalize solutions, coding solution in C, manage versioning, unit testing, and/or regression testing.
Education & Experience
- Minimum BS in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering required. Comp Sci or comparable may be considered if experience is relevant.
- 5-8 yrs industry experience.

Will accept Master's or higher relevant internship/project experience toward minimum.
- Understanding of RTOS concepts (not just dev on RTOS platforms),
- Device driver experience, peripheral access experience (SPI/I2C),
- Board bring up

At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
