Job Summary:
The Embedded SW Developer will focus on providing embedded solutions for small, unmanned aircraft. This will range from implementation and tuning of video pipelines in embedded Linux to low sensor driver development. This includes a variety of software projects that span multiple software architectures and hardware platforms that are interconnected, including ST micro, Nvidia, and Qualcom, bare metal and embedded Linux.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work on projects in C, C++, and Python in a Linux development environment
- Develop embedded software targeting a variety of devices
- Software development responsibilities:

End-to-end development and integration of new system capabilities in some of the following ares:
- Gimbal control, drone autopilot, drone mission manager, messaging, OTA firmware updates, middleware, etc.
- Integrating new sensors or MCU peripheral/capabilities drivers
- Adding enhancements to development, testing, and simulation environments
- Debugging SW or HW issues including the use of logic analyzer, oscilloscope, in-circuit debugging

Participate in design and code reviews
- 2+ years of professional experience in software industry, in field related to video conferencing, streaming, or computer vision.
- Strong software design and coding skills in C++ targeting devices running bare metal, RTOS, and embedded Linux
- Experience in designing, developing, debugging, and testing embedded software design on a variety of target platforms (e.g. STM32 MCU, ARM64)
- Any experience with autonomy, estimation and control algorithms, is a plus
- Ability to work on-site in Orem, Utah

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
