Deine Challenge
- Zu deinen Aufgaben gehört die Umsetzung und Ausgestaltung der Systemarchitektur in hardwarenaher C-Programmierung.
- Gemeinsam mit dem Team definierst und realisierst du Prozesse für Code-Reviews sowie Integrations- und Verifikationstests im Umfeld der funktionalen Sicherheit.
- Du schreibst einen hochqualitativen Code, der nicht nur effektiv funktioniert, sondern auch auf seine Funktionalität hin überprüfbar ist.

Du sorgst für eine vollständige und nachvollziehbare Dokumentation gemäß branchenüblichen Standards
- Du hast ein abgeschlossenes Studium im Bereich Elektrotechnik, Informatik oder eine vergleichbare Qualifikation
- Du hast bereits sehr gute Kenntnisse in hardwarenaher C-Programmierung auf Mikrocontrollern.
- Idealerweise bringst du Erfahrung in der Entwicklung von sicherheitskritischen Systemen mit – insbesondere im Bereich Robotik oder Automatisierung.
- Kenntnisse in funktionaler Sicherheit (z. B. ISO 13849 oder IEC 61508) sind von Vorteil.
- Du sprichst Deutsch auf Muttersprachniveau oder verfügst über sehr gute Deutschkenntnisse (mindestens C1).

Your challenge
- You analyse and assess security risks and implement suitable risk mitigation measures
- You define the development process in accordance with ISO 13849 and ISO 10218-1 (according to the V-model)
- You set up requirements management and specify all essential requirements for hardware, software and management processes
- In close coordination with an interdisciplinary team from mechanical engineering, software and application engineering, you ensure that requirements are understood and fulfilled

You document all development phases in accordance with industry standards
- You have a degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a comparable qualification
- Ideally, you have experience in the development of safety-critical systems - especially in the field of robotics or automation
- Knowledge of functional safety (e.g. ISO 13849 or IEC 61508) is an advantage
- Experience with the ISO 10218-1 standard is desirable
- You speak German at native speaker level or have very good German language skills (at least C1)

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
