SALARY: $110,000-120,000/year + benefits

Research, design, develop, build, and test the low-layer software, such as OS integration, I/O drivers, boot, etc., which interfaces with wide variety of electronic controls hardware (i.e. ECU/ECMs). Work can primarily be done off-site, but hardware engagement on-site is mandatory as part of workload. Depending upon the phase of the assignment, typical day would range from reading the client requirements, researching applicable ECU hardware/interfacing requirements, designing solutions, working with peers & tech leads to finalize solutions, coding solution in C, manage versioning, unit testing, and/or regression testing.
- Minimum BS in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering required. Comp Sci or comparable may be considered if experience is relevant.
- 5-8 yrs industry experience.

Will accept Master's or higher relevant internship/project experience toward minimum.
Real world real-time embedded device driver experience is key requirement.
- Experience designing embedded electronics controls, display, or telematics software, including development of device drivers, SPI/I2C peripheral interfacing, hardware diagnostics, real-time operating system integration/configurations, non-volatile memory interfacing, board initialization, and other chip-level interfacing.
- Proficiency in Git version mgmt required. (Clearcase experience preferred.)
- Experience troubleshooting/debugging using tools such as oscilloscopes
- Experience with control software design patterns and anti-patterns, Bash shell, ANSI C, Python, and other programming languages.

Experience with software development processes such as Agile.
Test engineering, controls engineering are not primary focuses. Can be part of work experience but should not be sole experience. Core skills above should be reflected in bulk of work experience.

We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
