Want to take FPGA programming to a whole new level?
We develop modern ASIC/FPGA systems composed of dedicated logic IP cores as well as the software controlling them. We incorporate best practices from the software world into the digital development process by employing Continuous Integration workflows to perform simulation (e.g. Verilator, Icarus) verification (e.g. cocotb, UVM), run unit tests or check code coverage. We work with FPGA chips from vendors like AMD, Intel, Lattice, Microchip and use HDLs like SystemVerilog, Verilog, Chisel and VHDL.
As a Digital Design/FPGA developer you will be responsible for designing, implementing and testing data processing IP cores, balancing data transfers as well as designing and implementing interfaces for all the blocks in the system. You will work closely with our cross-functional engineering team to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions for ASIC/FPGA-based systems. On top of that you will be developing software - from bare metal firmware, through operating system drivers, up to user space applications interacting with the FPGA logic.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in computer science, electronics or related fields
- knowledge of HDLs (e.g. SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, Chisel)
- good understanding of computer architecture
- experience in designing and testing digital circuits
- experience in developing testbenches and using simulation tools for design verification
- familiarity with embedded systems and hardware/software co-design
- expertise in C/C++
- knowledge of AXI, AHB, APB, Wishbone
- knowledge of communication interfaces such as UART, I2C, I3C, SPI, TileLink
- knowledge of fast communication interfaces such as PCI, PCIe, USB, ChipLink
- understanding of SoC FPGAs (e.g. AMD Zynq 7000 SoC, AMD Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC, Intel Arria 10 SoC, Microchip PolarFire SoC)
- knowledge of Linux and its internals
- experience with such tools as Bash, Git, GCC, make, CMake
- Python and/or other scripting languages are welcome
- permanent residency and eligibility to work in the EU
- readiness to work on-site

What we're looking for
At embedd.it, we power hardware-software integration in embedded devices. We turn fragmented semiconductor chip data into configurable digital twins, then deterministically generate code, tests, and documentation – making integration faster, cheaper, and resilient to supply chain shocks.
We’re looking for a true legend – someone with abstract thinking and deep expertise in low-level software development. You’ll build vendor-agnostic tooling for MCU and peripheral integration to solve hardware-software integration once and for all. We work at the intersection of embedded systems, code generation, compilers, and machine learning. It’s your chance to help redefine how low-level development is done.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture of the driver structures and system layout
- Define scalable patterns for cross-architectural integration across bare-metal, Zephyr, Linux, and other environments
- Deconstruct complex SoC device trees and translate hardware descriptions into structured internal models for automated reasoning
- Partner with the ML team to shape data and annotation models for AI-driven data-extraction tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Familiarity with firmware configuration, SoC bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools, or low-level compiler/decompiler/emulator technologies
- Strong background in embedded toolchains: compilers, linkers, debuggers, and build systems
- Python or scripting for automation and tooling is a plus
- Experience with functional-safety standards is a plus
