Cloud SOC Consultant – Contract

Northwest Partners is looking to hire an experienced Cloud SOC Consultant to work on a project with one of our premier clients in the cybersecurity industry. This role will support the cybersecurity operations team in enhancing and standardizing cloud security monitoring capabilities.

What YOU will do

• Evaluate current cloud SOC monitoring processes, tools, and coverage across AWS and Azure platforms.
• Define and document standardized SOC workflows and processes for cloud-native and hybrid environments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, architects, and DevOps to design and improve log ingestion pipelines into the SIEM.
• Build and optimize detection use cases for cloud threats such as anomalies, IAM misuse, misconfigurations, and data exfiltration.
• Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cloud security incident response.
• Work with SOC analysts and engineers to define and document incident response workflows.
• Provide guidance on tuning detections, enrichment strategies, and threat modeling for Azure and AWS.
• Define KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of cloud SOC monitoring.
• Recommend continuous improvement initiatives aligned with MITRE ATT&CK for Cloud and CIS Benchmarks.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to upskill the internal SOC team.
• Integrate threat intelligence feeds into cloud security monitoring tools.
• Evaluate new security technologies for applicability.

What YOU will bring us

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in Cybersecurity, with at least 3 years focused on cloud SOC and cloud security engineering.
• Deep technical expertise with Microsoft Azure and AWS, including logging services (e.g., CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Defender for Cloud, Azure Monitor).
• Strong knowledge of network security, public cloud infrastructure controls, and tools such as CNAPP, CIEM, CSPM, KSPM, XDR, IDS/IPS, CASB, DLP, MFA, and cloud automation tools.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud security detections and integrating log sources into SIEM platforms.
• Solid understanding of MITRE ATT&CK for Cloud, cloud threat modeling, and incident response.
• Experience with scripting or infrastructure as code (PowerShell, Python, Terraform) is a plus.
• Relevant certifications such as Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500), AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CISSP, or CCSP.
